It's a brand name like Pepsi. I stand behind it, I guarantee it.
Yeah, I finally saw the movie, American Gangster.
It finally got on the screen in Korea yesterday and I went to watch it early in the morning. There weren't many people so I could enjoy it with comfort. I didn't have to worry about which armrest's mine, no crying babies (oops of course there shouldn't have been! I almost forgot that it was an adult movie, right.) In the movie, Denzel rocked as usual, Russell's act was realistic and he looked just like a cop who doesn't care about most things-fidelity, hygiene, even wealth. The movie gives another amusement of finding familiar faces such as T.I., Common, RZA,and the guy who starred as Stringer Bell in the Wire utill its 3rd season.
The bottom line is that the movie was not bad(it actually might be a better movie than I felt how good it was, but I guess my expectation was way too high.) After watching the movie, I listened to Jay-Z's new album which Jay decided to record inspired by the movie. I could picture the each scene of the movie while I was listening to each track of the album. Not surprisingly, I could also overlap Hov's face on Denzel's during the movie.
I heard from one of my friends who works for UMG Korea that the album wasn't selling good in both physical and online market. Perhaps that's because quite a big number of his fans were disappointed with his last album, , which was pretty weak for the highly anticipated return of the "king," or even "J-Hova." And it felt a little too early to put out new album for him. Or, people don't like this dope, raw, pretty under-ish type of Jay-Z. If all my guesses are wrong, then it might be marketing and promotional problems... Anyways, I like this album cuz each track sound so disparate and fresh. I smell early Jay on the track Blue Magic ft. Pharrell, and I see an entrepreneur type of Shawn C. Carter at the same time.
If you're in the mood for some cool. old gangster stuff, then grab this movie and you might as well check Jay's new album.
Ma Man...
My favorite tracks of the album
+ Roc Boys (And the winner is...) ft. KanYe West
+ No Hook
+ Hello Brooklyn 2.0 ft. Lil Wayne
