I have a bad tendency. I'm pretty reluctant to watch something that others recommend me to watch no matter it is a TV show, Animation, Movie, whatever. But Boram, a cool dude I just got acquainted with, actually sent me 2 amazing clips. And the first one is MASH-SF, a film of fixed gear bikes, for which Gabe Morford and Mike Martin had shot fixie riders in Bay Area for 2 years. Its opening with steep downhill road and trolleys on the rail is quite cliche but still reppin' where it has been shot, SF! I was thrilled watching the riders swerving and pedaling so hard even when they ride down from the crazy hill. I quit riding bikes when I was about 8 or something and I totally lost all the riding skills as well as my enthusiasm and interest toward it. But this film evoked me to reconsider riding bikes as my new outdoor hobby.Oh and the background music kills too. Especially in the guy Massan's part, Gangstarr's "Capture(Militia Pt.3)" is banging and Damn, words can't explain how it feels.
Now, the second one he sent me was Just For Kicks a documentary about sneakers, Hip-Hop & the corporate game as you can see in the poster above. A few of my friends have recommended this one for several times but my bad tendency operated and I never watched it. I'm like a bad ass mule sometimes. But I got the clip, on the hard disk of my laptop with zero effort thanks again to Boram, now what would I do? Damn, I'm watchin it! I generally heart documentary of history of a matter tracking up its origin and this one is just one of those. Here I "affirm" that this documentary is definitely one of a kind. It's almost a flawless documentary with brilliant visuals on a perfect plot. It's well constructed and the graphics and the interviews with the top sneaker fiends of the world are just luscious.
I'm blessed with these 2 films tonight. If you have mad appetites for refreshing subcultures, Here are 2 gourmet dishes waiting to be served.
Good night.
