I can barely smell the usual upbeat atmosphere of an year-end this year. Neither loud-ass Christmas carols in the street nor a crowd in department stores for year-end shopping sprees.
I have witnessed several national crises in 2008, along with the plunged stock prices and the exchange rate shock. The No.1 national treasure Namdaemun being burnt down by a sociopathic arsonist, an oil-tanker crashing down in the West Sea and millions of citizens protesting the resumption of beef import from the U.S. in concern of mad cow disease. We Koreans have had enough of the bad news and now we all want to hear of some good news. So here I hope the upcoming 2009 to be a little more exciting and beautiful for all of us.
Happy New Year
